Cherry Laurel / Anastasia’s Wings
Without a doubt the most difficult wood I have ever worked is Cherry Laurel. The wood is extremely hard and splits, cracks, and warps whenever it wishes and in whichever direction it chooses. To date, I have only managed to complete two pieces: a small hollow form and this carved piece. The colors and figure of the grain are well worth the effort. In this piece the heart of the tree runs vertically through the bottom.
