Notes From the Artist:

My name is Shannon Knock Culpepper, I am a Boston based photographer but my images are from all over the world. I am a transplant from Iowa but I have enjoyed being a Bostonian for the past sixteen years. Taking pictures became my creative passion at the age of twelve and it has developed into a full-blown artistic obsession. My photography degree is in commercial advertising and my portfolio includes everything: fashion, portrait, weddings, fine art and commercial, but my work isn’t about the degrees and the awards, it’s about the inner eye and my world view point and how that manifests itself in my images. Photography is the way I journal my life, my feelings and my dreams. When I am looking through a lens, magic happens and I see details that were previously invisible to my naked eye. I love to capture emotion and intangibles, color and texture, shadow and shape and the beauty of things unnoticed. Most of my artistic inspirations come from painters and include Claude Monet, William Bouguereau, Emile Munier, Sophie Anderson, Hellen Allingham, Stephanie Pui-Mun Law, John Everett Millais and the father of photography Ansel Adams. I hope my images stir the depths of your imagination and communicate to you just how beautiful I think the world is!
